Borsari since 1956


In 1956 Giuseppe Borsari, after having worked with his father as tenant farmer, starts to commercialize staw & hay with an American ex-military truck, the Dodge.
During the sixties, he does the first investments buying other trucks and expanding the business also to forage. For his purchases, he used to go directly to the site to fix the deal, looking at the goods personally. He works at the exchange of Modena & Cremona, laying the foundations for the growth of the company selecting only good quality products.
He starts soon working with the sugar factories, which are at this time widespread over the Emilia-Romagna area. In fact, he transports and trades the sugar beet until 1973. In 1977, he starts buying wet pulp, offering in this way an important service to the sugar factories which didn’t have to store their production waste anymore.
In the 80s, thanks to Emer Borsari, son of Giuseppe, the company is able to develop the trading of sugar beet pulp in the Nord-Italy market.

The administration side has been developed since the beginning by Maria Rosa Rastelli, Emer’s wife, who step by step supported the development of the company.

In 1980, the company invests in the first warehouses. In the following years, new products are introduced in the portfolio like sunflower meal, cotton seeds, soyabean hulls. It begins to be known nationally thought its presence at the Milano & Bologna exchange.

In the 80s & 90s, the good economical results allow diversified investments. In 1989, with the friend Loris Mazzoli, Emer establishes Antica Foma, which specialize in local specialties, prosciutti, salumi, parmigiano reggiano. The same year it was founded Punto Verde for the production and trading of straw & alfalafa, which has now become one of the main Italian player in the organic sector.

In 1994 Borsari E. & C. srl buys the feed mill of Sagip in Rubiera, which then became GIMA thanks to the acquisition of Panzoo, another feed mill in Longiano.

The first-born of Emer & Maria Rosa, Luca Borsari starts working really young in the credit collection department. Later on, he goes to GIMA, where he gets to know and manage a complex industrial reality. Thanks to this experience, after the handover of GIMA, Luca brings back to Borsari new ideas related to human resources, marketing and business management.

In the first years of 2000 there are new investments in warehouses, with the purchases of the sites of Ficarolo, Bondeno e Crevalcore. In 2005, the attention to the environment, the constant road congestions, and the potential economic advantages have the Borsari family believing & investing in the rail transport. They build the new rail terminal of VILLA POMA MN which with an area of 100.000 square meters represents a modern logistic hub of primary importance.

At the same time the range of products is further expanded with cereals, rapeseedmeal, ddgs, and corn gluten feed.

In 2006 with the entry of second-born Francesco, the Borsari E. & C. srl strengthens its international position, expanding the volumes and establishing strategic partnerships of high level in all Europe.

Borsari infrastructure system has recently been extended with the acquisition of the warehouse in Vescovato CR, Ostiglia MN and of the logistics hub in the area of the Cremona Canal Port equipped with railway terminal.

The Borsari E. & C. srl was born from the intuition of a man deeply linked to his land, to Nonantola & its history. It was able to grow keeping faith to his style based on quality, reliability and respect. Today, strong of the constructive relationship between Emer & his sons, it looks into the future, keeping strong the values of the past.
